How often are you left flummoxed as to what is actually wrong with the subject matter?
"The boat was badly damaged...";
"Everything was wet and damaged";
"The cartons were damaged";
"There was damage inside the container";
"The consignee rejected the goods because they were damaged"
Most of the commonly used languages for survey reports have hundreds (do we exaggerate a little?) of words for describing how things are not as they should be; yet many surveyors cannot find more than one to give the reader the slightest clue as to what has happened.
There should one rule for the use for this word: Use sparingly.
